NERT is a free training program for individuals, neighborhood groups, and community-based organizations in San Francisco.

Neighbor-Helping-Neighbor

When a major disaster strikes, professional responders may be overwhelmed. NERT trains you to help yourself, your family, and your neighbors until help arrives.

🎓

24 Hours of Free Training

Six class sessions of approximately 4 hours each, covering everything from earthquake awareness to light search and rescue. No cost — just your commitment.

Community-Based

Training is held at locations throughout San Francisco. Join your neighborhood team and be part of a lifeline between your community and the City's emergency responders.

Recertification

NERT certification is valid for 2 years. Renew by attending sessions 5 and 6 of any training. 3-month grace period after expiry.

Monthly Training Day

Every 3rd Saturday: advanced topics and skill refreshers. April and October feature Citywide Drills.
